The Oryx bullet is a bullet with a lead core and a permanently bonded jacket and core. This bond provides high strength and prevents the bullet from cracking or splitting on impact, even through thick bone. To ensure optimal expansion at all impact velocities, the Oryx has a thin front jacket and internal protective plates. The thicker rear jacket and wings provide very high mass retention (often over 90%) and excellent penetration. The Oryx expands quickly to a large diameter without cracking, creating a wide penetration channel and minimizing tissue damage. The high mass retention also provides good penetration and high energy release. Since its introduction in 1996, the Oryx has become the flagship of the Norma series and is known worldwide for its excellent performance. The Oryx bullet is unique in that it has fast expansion for lethal bullets, as well as high mass retention and penetration for more durable bullets.
